One profile per learner, from applicant to graduate
Every learner has one profile that starts with their application and carries through enrollment. Personal details, documents and status stay together, and nothing is copied between systems.
Student records
What it does
One record
The applicant profile becomes the student profile on enrollment. Nothing is retyped.
Documents attached
Birth certificates, report cards and other files stay with the student.
Grade and section
Each student is placed in a grade level and section, which drives schedules, assignments and attendance.
Status
Mark each student as active, inactive, graduated or transferred.
Search and filters
Find any student by name, student number or LRN, or filter by grade and section.
Student login
Each student gets their own portal account.
How it works
Student records, step by step
- 1
Enroll
An accepted applicant becomes a student automatically, or admins add one directly.
- 2
Place
Assign the grade level and section.
- 3
Maintain
Update details and documents as the year goes on.
- 4
Report
Grades and attendance roll up to the student's report card.
Rules SIMS takes care of
These are built in, so staff don't have to remember them.
- Students are linked to grade levels and sections from master data, not free text.
- Files are stored privately and open through short-lived links.
- Only users with permission to view students can open records.
- Administrators
- Teachers (their own classes)
What each person sees is set by their role. See the role views.
