IoT Application Development for Connected Operations

Dashboards, alerts and remote control for connected machines, sensors and devices, built to turn raw telemetry into decisions your teams can act on.

Overview

Why IoT Development matters

Sensors and connected machines generate a constant stream of readings, but without the right software that data ends up in vendor-specific screens nobody checks until something breaks. With IoT application development from HANA Platform, telemetry from your devices flows into one platform that stores it reliably, shows it clearly and raises alerts the moment a value drifts out of range. Operators can monitor and control equipment remotely, maintenance teams see trends before failures happen, and managers get a single view across sites. The result is less unplanned downtime, faster response to incidents and data you can finally use.

What we build

IoT Development: capabilities

Every feature is built on our standardized stack, so it is secure, tested and maintainable by any engineer in our pool.

  • Device dashboards

Live views of every device, machine or site with status, key readings and health indicators, grouped by location, line or customer.

  • Real-time telemetry

Ingest high-frequency sensor readings, timestamp and store them efficiently, and stream updates to dashboards without page refreshes.

  • Alerts and notifications

Threshold, rate-of-change and missing-data rules that notify the right person by email, SMS, WhatsApp or app push, with escalation if nobody responds.

  • Remote monitoring and control

Send commands, change set points or restart equipment from the dashboard, with permissions, confirmation steps and a full audit of who did what.

  • Data pipelines and storage

Reliable ingestion, validation, buffering and aggregation so raw readings become hourly and daily summaries ready for reporting and analysis.

  • Predictive maintenance

Trend analysis and models that flag abnormal vibration, temperature or power patterns early, so maintenance is planned rather than reactive.

  • Mobile companion apps

Apps for technicians and operators to view device status, acknowledge alerts, scan asset tags and log maintenance work in the field.

  • Device and fleet management

Register devices, assign them to sites and customers, track firmware versions and monitor connectivity across the whole fleet.

Key benefits

Outcomes your business can count on

  • Less unplanned downtime

Early warnings on abnormal readings give teams time to intervene before a fault stops a production line or spoils stock.

  • Fewer site visits

Remote diagnostics and control mean many issues are resolved from the office, saving travel for jobs that genuinely need hands on site.

  • One view across vendors

Data from different device makers lands in one platform, so you are not juggling separate portals for each brand of equipment.

  • Data you own

Telemetry is stored in your own database on infrastructure you control, ready for reporting, AI models or integration with other systems.

Use cases

Where this delivers value

  • Factory machine monitoring

Track uptime, cycle counts and energy use per machine, and alert supervisors when a line slows or stops.

  • Cold-chain and storage monitoring

Watch temperature and humidity in warehouses, vehicles and pharmacy fridges, with alerts and compliance reports for every excursion.

  • Remote equipment for OEMs

Give equipment manufacturers a customer-facing portal to monitor installed machines and offer service contracts based on real usage.

Technology used

Built on one proven stack

IoT platforms run on our standard NestJS and PostgreSQL stack, with Redis and BullMQ buffering and processing incoming readings, Next.js powering live dashboards and mobile apps sharing the same versioned API. Device connectivity is chosen per project based on your hardware and network conditions.

  • NestJS ingestion and device API
  • PostgreSQL time-series storage design
  • Redis + BullMQ for buffering and alert jobs
  • Next.js real-time dashboards
  • React Native or Flutter companion apps
  • AI models for anomaly and failure prediction

Our process

From first call to confident launch

  1. 01

    Discovery

We review your devices, gateways, data rates and network conditions, list the readings that matter and define the alerts operators need first.

  2. 02

    Design

We design the ingestion path, data retention and aggregation strategy, command safety rules and the dashboard layout for each role.

  3. 03

    Agile Build

Sprints deliver ingestion, storage, dashboards, alerting and control, tested with simulated device traffic before connecting real hardware.

  4. 04

    Production + 90-day hypercare

We roll out site by site, tune alert thresholds to cut false alarms, monitor ingestion health and support the platform closely for 90 days.

What makes IoT application development different

IoT software has to cope with conditions most business apps never see: devices that drop offline for hours, readings that arrive late or out of order, and bursts of thousands of messages per second when a fleet reconnects. We design for those realities with buffering, idempotent processing and clear handling of gaps, so dashboards show the truth rather than a misleading flat line.

Control features deserve extra care. Commands that change how equipment behaves go through role checks, confirmation steps and audit logging, and the system records whether each device acknowledged the instruction.

From monitoring to predictive maintenance

Most clients start with visibility: knowing what every device is doing right now. Once a few months of history are stored, the same data supports trend analysis and AI models that spot early signs of failure. Our ERP + AI integration work can then turn those predictions into maintenance work orders or spare-part purchases automatically.

Our manufacturing industry page shows how monitoring, ERP and AI fit together on the shop floor, and the GIS development page covers mapping devices that are spread across many locations.

Security for connected devices

Every device authenticates with its own credentials, data is encrypted in transit, and devices can only publish to and read from the channels assigned to them. On the application side, users see only the sites and devices they are authorized for, and hosting with Raidlayer or your own infrastructure keeps telemetry under your control.
