HANARAD Panchang is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not sell your personal data. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

This Privacy Policy applies to the HANARAD Panchang Android application ("App"), developed and operated by HANA Platform ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the App you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

a) Location Data

The App requests access to your device location (coarse or fine) solely to calculate accurate sunrise, sunset, Rahu Kalam, Gulika Kalam, and other Panchang timings for your geographical position. Location data is:

  • Processed on-device only.
  • Never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
  • Only accessed when you explicitly grant permission.
  • You may alternatively enter your city manually without granting location permission.

b) Usage & Crash Data

We may collect anonymised crash reports and basic usage statistics (e.g. app version, device OS version, crash stack traces) through Firebase Crashlytics to improve app stability. This data does not identify you personally.

c) Data You Provide

If you contact us via email, we collect the information you provide (name, email address, message content) only to respond to your enquiry.

2. How We Use Information

  • To calculate and display location-based Panchang timings.
  • To remember your app preferences (language, theme, ayanamsa style) locally on your device via SharedPreferences.
  • To diagnose and fix bugs using anonymised crash reports.
  • To respond to support requests you send to us.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

3. Data Storage & Retention

All app preferences and cached Panchang data are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences and SQLite. This data is cleared when you uninstall the App. We do not operate any servers that store personal data.

The App uses the following third-party SDKs, each governed by their own privacy policies:

We do not integrate any advertising SDKs or data broker services.

5. Permissions Requested

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — to determine your position for Panchang calculations. Optional; the App functions without it.
  • INTERNET — used only for Firebase crash reporting. No personal data is sent.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — to refresh home-screen widgets after device restart.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Revoke location permission at any time via Android Settings → Apps → HANARAD Panchang → Permissions.
  • Delete all local app data by clearing app storage or uninstalling the App.
  • Request information about any personal data we hold about you.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
